THE ALL-TIME TOP 50 BEST SELLING M&E ARTISTES

No more teasing, we're in to the Top 10, some truly excellent artistes (and The Thamesmead Rollers), hanker no longer...

* I see this page looks all skewiff too, same culprit, what can ya do?

10: The dark and haunting melodies that forged their way into being one of my personal favourites and a singer who complained how cold my old house was, Into The Abyss... 9: A band you simply have to respect for not letting an almost complete lack of talent stop them being a huge success, the utterly unique sound of The Thamesmead Rollers... 8: Psychedelic bands don't come much cooler than Wobble Jaggle Jiggle and the much missed Robert Chambers...

10  Into The Abyss Greece
9  The Thamesmead Rollers / TMR England
8  Wobble Jaggle Jiggle England

7: The legend that was Judge Trev, the man who put the Judgement in Thunder and Inner City Unit in our hearts. You will never be forgotten, sir... 6: The great retro-electronica of the infectiously enthusiastic Hertfordshire duo, Titania Moon... 5: It's psychotronic pop, Jim, but not as we know it! Acid Tapes and Rainfall Records main man Steve Lines and his excellent Stormclouds...

7  Judge Trev & Nik Turner England
6  Titania Moon England
5  Stormclouds England

4: Duncan & Craig from our top selling English band, the Devon indie sounds of The Conspiracy... 3: Polish sisters, Izabella Bellatrix & Aleksandra Templar, the latter sadly no longer with us, absolutely won our hearts with the delightful melodic gothic rock of The Witches... 2: What can one say about the Welsh Wizard, the self-styled Bard Of Ely? This man is an absolute one-off, the force of nature that is Steve Andrews...

4  The Conspiracy / The Networkers England
3  The Witches Poland
2  Steve Andrews Wales

  1. Which just leaves the top spot, it could only be the chug-a-ramic politico-spacey psychepunk sounds of Rhyl's finest, Sons Of Selina. From their origins as the amusingly named punksters, 4Q (it only works in a Rhyl accent), the Sons went on to become absolute favourites with Music & Elsewhere's demanding supporters. They even outsold Magic Moments At Twilight Time in 1994, the only band to do so in the 'golden age' of M&E. From us, they were signed by Delerium Records where they released some amazing albums that remain underground classics. I am proud to have been a part of this band's deserved rise to greatness. Mostly, I think, by getting them a gig in The White Hart pub in Frimley...
