- time to check in with The
Cruditron and tell the crew they're leaving for the red planet...

Billy Yfantis - Cosmic Shield (3:48)
A second track on the show from his
excellent "Planetary Fields" album ("Live On Moonbase Alpha" for details
again). Still trying to talk him into doing a concept album based on Pluto
and getting it reinstated as a planet like it was when I was a kid...

"Looking
backwards, the Earth will soon disappear behind the moon, this Eclipse means
you will not see home again for many months.
To aid relaxation and ease the anxiety this may cause, Andrés
Figueroa and El Zombie Espacial will be performing some cool jazz in 9
Backward. Nice..."

Andrés Figueroa & El Zombie Espacial - Eclipse (5:40)
Our electro-experimental collaborator on
"Requiem Maternus" gets together with fellow Argentinean artiste, Andrés
Figueroa, on a nice avant garde jazz odyssey in honour of the late great
American string bass virtuoso, Charlie Mingus. The album is called "Ming Us
(meditaciones sobre Charlie Mingus)" and is available either in download
format on Bandcamp, or on CD from Machine Tribe. Nice...

"Ensign Levente is giving a
lecture in the mess hall tonight at 21:00, the subject heading
is “Overhearing The Stars” and it’s about the history of the Arecibo
Observatory. Refreshments will be
provided, you are asked to please refrain from vaping, thank you."

Levente - Overhearing The Stars (Arecibo Observatory) (12:44)
The third of this Transylvanian ex-pat's
space themed works that we remixed into the suite, "Astra Cum Distorta",
being big fans of his intricate brand of electronic music. This particular
piece is from his 2015 album, "Firmamentum". In the words of the man
himself; "As a kid watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos on our black and white TV,
one of the most awe-inspiring sights for me was, and has remained, that of
the vast radio telescope at Arecibo, Puerto Rico. So here is a track
inspired and dedicated to this giant monument of scientific exploration,
which has been overhearing the stars' myriad wondrous tales over the last
decades. The track combines a somewhat vintage feel, considering the
observatory's age, with a few elements that hopefully convey the idea of
listening to radio waves from afar." And there's a few further tracks from the
maestro below, courtesy of The A-Z Of M&E...
