There is nothing wrong with your radio set.
Do not attempt to adjust the frequency. We are controlling transmission. If
we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make
it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the treble. We will
control the bass. We can distort the sound to a grating blur. Or sharpen it
to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all
that you hear. We repeat, there is nothing wrong with your radio set. You
are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience
the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind, to the...

Rafael González & Hal McGee - Officially Unofficial - Part 3 (5:59 - radio
edit)
Hal published the first issue of Electronic
Cottage as a printed magazine in April 1989, following the demise of his
Cause And Effect project with Debbie Jaffe.
Hal on it's creation; "I set out to create
Electronic Cottage specifically with the intention to re-dedicate myself to
my ideals of serving the network, making connections etc." Quote taken from
"Cassette Culture: Homemade Music And The Creative Spirit In The
Pre-Internet Age" - an excellent book by Jerry Kranitz, published by Vinyl
On Demand. This is a track from their collaborative album of the same name,
recorded by Hal in Florida and Rafael in Tenerife, the full 15 minute
version of which will appear on the subsequent compilation album. What for
an add-on at the foot of the page in the next few weeks!

02. Persephone - Mictlantecuhtli (3:36)
Music from Mexico; "Complex replications of forms through the repeated
application of a fixed set of rules. Digital Nonsense." That's what she
says!

03. Igor Amokian - Archaic Transport Circuit (5:37)
Aka Chris Holland, based in Los Angeles,
California; circuit-bender, electronic musician extraordinaire and a bit of
a vinyl fanatic to boot...

04. Craig Tanis - Fabrication Chief (2:54)
Tennessee based experimentalist who
mysteriously has his online musical repositories under the name of
Kongbalong. His Bandcamp includes his 2020 collaborative album with Chris
Phinney (also on the playlist as Mental Anguish), "Water In The Blood".
Actually, I think it's gin in mine...

Strattanpossum - Weather Report (5:50)
And it's over to Mr. Possum for the
weather, somewhere in the USA, not sure where. Doesn't seem to be a Bandcamp
account anywhere, but he does have a You Tube channel. "I put my films
together without reading the instructions." He warns. But he doesn't warn
you about the very loud auto-play video...

Fiver’s Stereo - Systematic Entropy (2:37)
Florida based Jay Decosta Peele on Moog
DFAM, Moog Subhharmonicon, Ensoniq TS-10 and vocals. Also known as
Shatter Wax, who describes himself as an
artist, producer, turntablist/DJ. musician,
singer & noise maker. Is turntablist a real word? It's okay, I make up words
too...

Made with Wiisp Synth, Audio Nodes,

Girls On Fire - Monday Morning Come On (3:00)
Hal's Girl Fireday (see what I did there?),
the lady with ears of iron; legend has it she survived the full 35 minutes
of our "RFA" track through headphones! Even I haven't done that and I'm
responsible for recording it. Leslie Singer, we salute you!

Lumen K
- Farfadelle (2:58)
Aka Trevor Luke, based in Gainesville,
Florida, so gather he must be one of Hal's neighbours, and probably one who
doesn't bang on the ceiling during his Apartment Music sessions. Ooh, looks
like he worked at the University Of Pennsylvania. We know their phone
number, Glenn Miller told us...

The mighty Chris Phinney of Harsh Reality

compilation album, watch the skies...

Jeremiah Paddock - Some Yesterday - Version 1 (2:14)

Aversion To Reality - Did Anything Happen (2:19)

where he makes these interesting noises...

Cacophony '33'
- Commanded In Scripture (4:52)
And the sole representative of the UK on
the show this month is Kev Kettle, who is over the other side of the country
in Lincoln. Kev says he started via the 'local band scene' in the late 70's
(didn't we all?), then retired to his bedroom with some gadgets in the early
80's, and has been there ever since...

00. Mick & His Magic Bullet
- No Room, The Show Was Over Subscribed! (0:00)
On the bright side, Lord Litter interviewed
me for Electronic Cottage in September 2018, which you might enjoy a read
of. It's probably the most in depth interview I've ever given (but then
Litter is an old and dear friend), plenty of personal insights, along with
much about the golden age of cassette culture.
o
*ADDENDUM: It turned out to be
incredibly poignant that I should have added this link at this time. Three
days after publication, Litter finally lost his struggle with COPD. We have
lost the man I dubbed The Patron Saint Of The Underground, I have lost a
friend of over three decades standing. Words fail...
