"THE MMATTRIX"
ELECTRONICAL DREAMS (ED 033, 1993)
Side 1;
1. "The Zen Sequent" (1'38)
2. "Caulphorquaets" (10'33)
3. "Pandora" (5'00)
4. "Shades Of Purple" (4'31)
5. "Spirit" (4'16)
6. "Monthiversary Waltz"
(6.00 edited)
Side 2;
7. "Sister Jody" (32'08)
8. "The Adventure
Continues..."
Track 2 was originally released on "The At Twilight Time" album (C-4014,
1987), though later found deservedly wider distribution on "Psychotron 0"
(MMATT 20, 1988); 3 is from "The Magic Moments Album" (C-4013, 1987); 4 is
from "Zoen Nostalgia" (MMATT 30, 1989); 5 would most likely be the acoustic
version released on "Zoen Nostalgia II: Earthbound" (MMATT 33, 1991); 6 & 7
were on the flipside of "Live Debut Plus" (C-4010, 1987) and 8 is just Shona
saying "Magic Moments At Twilight Time, the adventure continues." Track 1 is
a bit of a mystery with its 1:38 running time. The credits show it as
featuring the original foursome, so I would guess it's either the Earworm
version or from "The Magic Moments Album" and the running time is a
misprint? Sadly, there is no way to be 100% sure as I no longer have a copy
of the cassette. But then if cassettes had actually passed the test of time,
we'd still be using them, huh? |
The
quite excellent artwork of Alan "Hawkwind" Arthurs adorned the inlay, he
also rather kindly did the painting for the cover of the "United World
Underground" compilation CD for us in 2001. Nice man. The acknowledgements
on the inner sleeve credit Patrice Miossec with the logo design for this
release. Coincidentally, he also did the wonderful package for the French
edition of "Flashbax Vol. 1" we started with! |

The
inner sleeve also featured this rather nice photo of me and Lulu (Leonie
Jackson), taken by Pete Program at Virginia Water in 1991. |
The Electronical Dreams label was run by
Clive (he preferred 'Cleve') Littlewood, based all the way down in St.
Austell, Cornwall. Primarily an electronic music label, he rather surprised
me when he suggested releasing a Magic Moments album. Well, he had folk like
Dave Anderson (Demi Monde) and Alan Arthurs (Hawkwind's finest cover artist)
amongst his friends, so I guess he was a bit of a closet spacehead, which
was a lucky break for us. However, there was no way he was going to be happy
with a standard edition of Flashbax. He insisted on picking every track
himself, and as ED releases were something of a work of art, professionally
duplicated et al, I wasn't about to argue. I remember the whole process
taking the best part of two years, but it was so worth the wait. The
finished product was impressive, certainly inspired me to up my game at M&E.
Though we opted for red print on a white cassette body, rather than adhesive
labels, I rather think we owe Clive one for that! In fact, I think we owe
EVERYONE that released a MMATT album a very big thank you. Ta kissy
kissy. |
The
man himself, Clive Littlewood
The
cassette label for the release was quite an inspiration for Music &
Elsewhere tape designs in the years that followed. |
