Always a pleasure to create something new for Shaun Robert's long-running musique concrète compilation series, and this is our 15th for the label. The 'jump cuts' thing is one that came up before, for Audio Abstract Sound Collage (December 2020), and maybe what we did for it was a little on the predictable side (Return To Damnor), but wasn't it a fantastic rail ticket!? Seriously though, we wanted to do something different for this one, so came the idea to try with random samples the kind of thing we did for Mi Casa, Su Casa with household objects. We weren't actually sure Shaun would like the idea of drums being involved, almost defeats the object of music being any sounds at all. I mean, a drum is a real musical instrument, albeit these are sampled. But we lucked out and he was highly complimentary.

"Your track makes me think of The Normal's TVOD," he tells us, "which is a good thing, as TVOD is a classic."

Elysian Fields - KXCI 91.3 FM This whole album is chock full of excellent sounds that it was tough to pick just one. But, Jump Cut Jive really was a standout selection. The song is as advertised, perfectly executed audio jump cuts that tell a story. Favorite track: Jump Cut Jive.
