FLASHBAX OMICRON 13 - PART 2
AND NOW THE CONCLUSION...
You'll believe in parallel dimensions...
You'll believe in little green men in bowler hats...
You'll believe a sixty year old man really should have grown up by now...
Marc Gordon Hendley Bell 999 copies to go!
Jan N. Kremski you've sold one copy already? you must be thrilled!
;)
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Do you wanna give this guy a slap,
Marc, or shall I? ;)
Magic Moments At Twilight Time It's Sunday, it's 13:00, and we're
back! A very good afternoon to you all.
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Seven more tracks to come today,
never previously digitised, all available as a free downloadable
collection at the end of the session. And there'll be more, trust me.
Magic
Moments At Twilight Time Now, where were we up to? That's right, we'd
just played "Zen Sequent" from our live debut album, so where next? Within
four months of that series of releases (C-4007-4010), I'd felt compelled
to deconstruct everything and start over again. C-4011 was "The MMATT
Story". Basically, I scrapped the first few demos and just presented a 90
minute 'best of', this was it...
Magic
Moments At Twilight Time C-4012 was "Live At Frimley Community
Centre", which was ostensibly a reissue of "Vol. 4: Live Debut Plus" with
one small change. So small, I don't even remember what it was now!
Slightly better cover mind...
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Either way, there's a better version
available to download for free from Dropbox now (just click on the cover
image), enjoy muchly...
Magic
Moments At Twilight Time C-4013, however, was our first complete
'studio' album release. Although our seventh album, it was our first demo
album proper, as it were. Confusingly part of the "21st Century Schizoid
Band" co-released pair (below), it was called "At Twilight Time" by Magic
Moments, but gradually came to be known as "The Magic Moments Album". Much
of the album has not only been digitised, it's also been remastered and
several tracks appeared on the 2015 Klappstuhl Records release, "Flashbax
Ω Ultimate"...
The '21st Century Schizoid Band' twin albums, C-4013/4014, released
simultaneously on Saturday 7th November 1987 |
Magic Moments At Twilight Time So, finding a track that hadn't been
digitised previously did leave a rather limited choice of... well... this
one. I think it's a source of some embarrassment now that we once called
our music 'weirdobop', albeit tongue in cheek, but it did happen and we
did call this track "The Weirdobop", enjoy muchly...
Albert M Tron I think you'll find it was me who came up with that
name, I thought it absolutely appropriate.
Mick Tron I'm saying nothing.
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Back in phase, gentlemen? Good of
you to join us.
Albert M Tron I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Any of the
25 of them.
Mick Tron I go where he goes...
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Ah, the track has finished. Silly
title, but I do quite like the song. It was actually just a reworking of
"Us Weirdos Gotta Stick Together". Well, you'll notice we've been joined
again by The Doc (Albert M Tron) and his Biodroid counterpart, Mick Tron,
talking to us from who knows where in the multiverse. That was quite a
cliffhanger you left us with on Friday, guys, the transdimensional phantom
with the mohican et al.
Albert M Tron Indeed. All will be revealed in due course. We have a
couple of hours to keep it interesting first... ;)
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Good point. The other half of the
"21st Century Schizoid Band" co-releases was "Magic Moments" by At
Twilight Time, which also became more commonly known as "The At Twilight
Time" album. The best known track from it is probably "Caulphorqaets",
which also appeared on "Psychotron 0: The Best Of MMATT" (MMATT 20) when
the label went 'official' in the July of 1988. Quite a lot of tracks from
it have resurfaced here and there, but I still had a handful of good tunes
to choose from...
Magic Moments At Twilight Time The album was a compilation of
various recordings from the At Twilight Time Projects. These were
basically a side project to the band's regular Mmatterial, giving us a
chance to indulge whims, work solo or in any combination we chose to, do
stuff we wouldn't normally do and collaborate. We did some soundtracks to
the poetry of Mal Foster (then known as Cieslak), for example; a couple of
tracks with Andy Bullock of Slack Bladder (now works under the name of
Andy Bolus); and many bits and bobs that were well off the beaten MMATT
track. The one I've chosen is the four of us playing around with bossa
nova rhythms and a Mills & Boon romance, this is "Dear B'Nova"...
Jan N. Kremski Ah! that's got Karolina up and dancing around the
kitchen - and she don't normally like your stuff! :)
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Dump her!
Jan N. Kremski harsh
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Sue me.
Albert M Tron Oh yes, I did enjoy doing this one. I remember
dancing to this with Miss Moments. Happy daze.
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Weird that I have so many similar
memories to you.
Albert M Tron Indeed, up until the point of divergence. A little
over two years after this track was recorded, I was forced to leave the
Earth completely. To this point, although our Earth was considerably more
advanced than your own, the personal histories of my friends and I ran in
almost perfect synchronicity with those of our counterparts. However, when
I returned to Earth for the MMATT 25th Anniversary celebrations in 2012, I
learned it had been involved in a terrible multi-world war, and many of
those friends were no longer alive to receive me. Sometime in that 21½
year absence, events on our two worlds diverged severely, my heart and my
gut tell me this is not the way things were meant to be. I am currently
working with my Biodroid and his counterpart on your Earth to identify the
specific point of divergence. I then plan to return to that point in the
Ford Escortron and put right that thing that once went wrong, restoring
our history and the lives of my friends. I realise I may not survive such
a journey, but my chances increase with the more support I can muster on
your side. I thank you for your time and hope I can count on your support
as friends of the MMATT in another plane of reality.
Magic Moments At Twilight Time You know you can count on me, Doc.
Albert M Tron I know, my young friend, and I know you will help us
greatly. Your 70 year old self has already told us much of what is to
happen in the next decade.
Magic Moments At Twilight Time Doesn't that break that rule
we
worked out from watching Dr. Who about not crossing your own timeline?
Albert M Tron Don't be so silly, that's just made up stuff for
television, this is reality!
Magic Moments At Twilight Time I don't think anybody doubts that,
Doc. Right, the next recording issued was actually called "The 21st
Century Schizoid Band Q.E.D." (C-4015), but it doesn't count for our
purposes because it wasn't actually an album, just a promotional sampler. |
