The Come Together Productions CD and the Secrets Of Sound 7" EP

planned new album with the then working title of "The Spirit Of Darkness", Leonie, Pete Program and myself decided that promoting "White Hawk Atomic: Live On Alpha Nebuli IV" would be the best use of the CD spot in the meantime. First thing we had to do was get our analogue recordings transferred to a digital format, something I knew absolutely nothing about at the time. So, I took the 4-track and original masters down to Chestnut Studios in Churt, where we remixed the two old MMATT chestnuts, "Blitzkrieg!" and "State Of The Art", to DAT tape, and it's those recordings that appeared on the CD and you have on this collection. It's actually the same recording of "Blitzkrieg!" that appeared on the Secrets Of Sound EP in 1993, courtesy of Neil Crud of Sons Of Selina (with whom you'll find an INTERVIEW on this website), our only appearance on vinyl to date. The eighth track of the collection came about when DJ Garry Lee invited me to the home of Colchester based pirate station, Freedom Overflow, for the Mayday weekend in 1992. He'd taken a bit of shine to us, bless him, and asked if we'd consider doing a theme tune for the station. As they'd recently broadcast a whole night of our stuff, going under the joke name of Mmattland

Myself on the decks at Freedom Overflow in May 1992 and the infamous "Mmattland Community Radio FM" cassette (MMATT 35, July 1992)

Community Radio FM for the booze and smoke inspired session, a 90 minute extract of which was later released under that title, it seemed the least we could do, and it was indeed used as the station's theme for a few years. You'll recognise the music, of course, it was later reworked as the opening track of "Creavolution", "The Starship Psychotron". Garry Lee is still hard at it, though these days, it's Starship Overflow (wonder where he got that idea from), and in a good way, not like when Jefferson Airplane changed their name to Jefferson Starship, that was shit. Full details of Captain Lee's present day adventures can be found on Overflow's OFFICIAL WEBSITE, tune in, turn on and drop out soon.

It's also worth noting that there are some impressive digitally remastered versions of the recordings of "Spirit" and "Freedom Overflow" used on this collection on the Klappstuhl Records 'best of' MMATT double album,  "Flashbax Ω Ultimate" (SP 008, October 2015), full details of which can be found on their BANDCAMP.

THE THAMESMEAD ROLLERS

09. ARMEGGEDON TIME

Up to this point, our next planned MMATT album was still going to be another cassette release, being the perfect medium for our TEAC 4 track recorded analogue ramblings. However, when we got the offer to record the album in a professional studio for free, that outlook began to change. The man who made the offer was Thamesmead Rollers frontman and owner of Braindead Studios, Marc Bell, with whom you'll also find an INTERVIEW on this website. We'd released a couple of his bands albums on M&E... well, I say 'released', I think they probably escaped really, but I digress. Late '93, he invited me up to Plumstead to do some guitar, synth and backing vocals on a track for their forthcoming album, "Too Old To Rock?" (*yes, they were), called "Armegeddon Time" (I know, we have discussed the spelling of that several times), the result of which is track 9 of this collection. I can't play traditional lead guitar to save my life, never learnt that style, so I played around with the E-Bow a bit and

Marc takes a breather during the "Too Old To Rock?" sessions. Bless...
