The Good:
Captain Riz Sigma can do little
else but wait for rescue as our beleaguered ship sits helpless in
interstellar space...
The Bad:
The Cruditron, well, don't suppose he
can do a lot really as we threw him out of the airlock a couple of episodes
back...
& The Upgrade:
Which comes courtesy of the High
Priestess Of The Kathodos, so what next for the WSS Boobyprise? Read on...
"The
alarm clock thing again? Didn’t we do that in the David Lynch special? "
01.
Android Replica - I Left It In The Dream World (3:15)
From the album "Aiming At Shooting Stars",
this is a "noodling around lightweight space pop" side project from Dead
Pollys' guitarist, Juba Nurmenniemi. Yes, this is what the Finnish
spacerocker (Pseudo Sun and Captain's Log back in the day, you'll find
tracks from both on
The A-Z Of
M&E) does when he's not gigging or recording with the Swedish neo
punksters who were kind enough to pay us a visit when playing over here last
year. They're in Preston again on November 1st, so we'll definitely be
getting the kettle on again for that. I'll have to try to get along to the
gig as well, see if I can give my nurse the slip for the night...

"Something is materialising on the bridge, Captain."

02.
Olik
Nesnah & Lavinia Mari - Chasing Shadows Of Another World (11:01)
Lavinia has been on the show before,
utilising her self-proclaimed sexy voice (it is though) with Kathodos, but
this time returns in collaboration with a gentleman by the name of Olik
Nesnah, who we don't know as yet. She is also, of course, a special guest on
the show this month, putting that voice to good use as The High Priestess Of
The Kathodos, an alien race who have come to the rescue of our beloved WSS
Boobyprise and given it a good upgrade. This is the title track from the
November release on Slithering Black Records, which I'll link at the end.
And the Kathodos album too, both very worth a listen...

"Her kisses are made with pink tongue Loretta bubbles of the EagleClaw Ghost
Of Fulci."
03.
EagleClaw Ghost Of Fulci - Pink Tongue Loretta Bubbles (4:40)
This is another project of Enghis Von
Sharklor, who you may be more familiar with under the guise of Galactic
Salvage Alliance, whose collaborative work with Antoine Trauma about 'alien
mucus' we had on the show a couple of episodes back. This track comes from a
split album with Dead By Hanging (cheerful little name) called "Pink Tongue
Of The Bequemoth Worm". And yes, it's absolutely as weird as it sounds.
Guess being on this show was something of a clue that it would be though...

"I need to go back to the manual for this one, here we go, Amokian
Tronics..."
04.
Igor
Amokian - Amokian Tronics (2:15)
When you need to know how to assign a voice
to a Kawaquad Amokabot (yes, we did indeed play that recently), you need the
book on Amokian Tronics (available from all good book sellers west of Cygnus
IV), and the committed circuit bender and vinyl aficionado does the business
right here. Look at that photo, he's got such lovely toys, hasn't he? I want
more...

"That’s right, you are made of Delphium, I am made of carbon."
05.
Delphium - Carbon (4:24)
Jonathan Forde has been busy with his
leftfield brand of electronic sounds since 1993, at which time we only lived
around a mile apart in Surrey, but never actually met. Since then, we have
both escaped, him as far as Stoke-On-Trent, us all the way to Knott
End-On-Sea. This is the second track to be featured from the album
"Everything Is Lost II", available on CD or download. I was going to ask him
some questions about what was coming next, but found a message on his
Facebook from a couple of days earlier saying "Going to disappear for a long
time. Get me on WhatsApp if it's important. Cya." I don't use What's App, so
that fucked that plan...

"One from the KOWS Radio Summit’s own Don Campau, Number One."
06.
Don Campau - I Found The Dark Matter Logic (4:18)
You probably know who Don is anyway, if not, you absolutely should! Veteran
of the whole cassette culture thing; the man behind the Lonely Whistle Music
tape label; the man who handled KFR Distribution in the U.S. for quite some
time; host of the No Pigeonholes radioshow; curator of the online Living
Archive Of Underground Music; Mr. KOWS Radio Summit. And in his spare
time... no, I'm kidding, he doesn't have any. I interviewed him for The
Magic Net about a decade ago, still very much worth a read, I'll pop the
link on the end. The track? New one, just saw it posted on Facebook recently
and liked it...

read this yourself."
07.
Shaun Robert - Oponimus UgdftbUgdftbUgdftbUgdftb (4:33)
Well, we've been playing oodles of tracks
from his Institute For Alien Research musique concrète compilations
recently, so it seemed only fair to include one of his own tracks, and this
one fitted the show perfectly. Ironically, this comes from one of those
compilations, "Topographical Report", rather than one of his solo albums.
Such is life. Shaun is another veteran of the underground music scene, think
it must have been about 33 years ago we released a factor X cassette on
Music & Elsewhere. I probably need to shut up now, I'm even making myself
feel old...

"In what seems to me nothing more than a plot set up for a future episode,
he claims his ship was attacked
and destroyed by something he calls The Cosmic Annihilator..."
08.
Howl in the Typewriter - The Cosmic Annihilator (4:43)
Yes, it's our Blackpool neighbour(ish),
Stan Batcow, him behind the Pumf Records label, ex Membrane, not to mention
those Godspunk compilation CDs that are always ruined by having a picture of
a scary clown (no, there isn't another sort) on the front. We were very
brave and appeared on a couple of them, but if we're honest, Skit and I
still only look at them with eyes closed. But I digress, which is most
unlike me. This is from the mighty Howl's latest album, "Shut Your Mouth And
Open Your Mind", which Mr. B was kind enough to send us a CD copy of. As you
come to expect from HitT, it's a strangely eclectic mix, thus quite at home
on our little enterprise. I meant Boobyprise, sorry, enterprise is the other
show...

"Okay, computer, now let’s get the full course plan to Lieutenant Christian
Wittman in navigation and start crossing parallels..."
09.
Christian Wittman - Crossing Parallels (6:32)
One of the founding members of French
ambient electronic band, Lightwave (who we will definitely be including on
future shows), dating back to the early 80's, but also quite prolific with
his equally ambient solo projects. This track from "Music For Sound
Installation II" was originally playlisted for the February show, then we
lost David Lynch and the whole script (yes, it doesn't "just happen by
accident", Kyle S of Occidental, Sonoma County, so there) got re-written, so
here it is second time around...

10. Magic Bullet - We Would Hear The Machines (Filler Mix) (0:56)
"I
think that was just a filler track because they were running short." Yes, it
was.
11.
Astral Magic - Cruising The Celestial Highways (4:16)
And back on the playlist and occasionally
allowed back on Facebook too, the second Finnish spacerocker on this month's
show, ex Dark Sun dude, Santtu Laakso. Not one of his latest, but doesn't
this title track just make the perfect play-out? Sounds like Astral Magic,
Captain, if only The Zuckerberg would stop persecuting him, eh? Life...

"Knott
End International Spaceport calling the WSS Boobyprise.
Forget
Mars, we’ll leave that to US Vice President Musk, it’s small potatoes now.
Your
continuing mission; to explore strange new waveforms, to seek out
otherworldly music and experimentation, to boldly go where no radioshow has
gone before.
And to find the end of the universe!"
