THE MAN YOU WOULDN'T

HAVE TOLD TO FOLK OFF

In Memory Of Kevyn Dymond (5th February 1957 - 28th December 2023)

It's October 2024 as I sit down to write this, almost 33 years to the day since the one occasion in more than three decades of swapping letters, tapes, zines and whatever, that we actually met in the flesh. Kevyn and Don Campau were doing what I would describe as The Cassette Culture Trip Of A Lifetime thing; travelling from their respective homes in California, across the Atlantic Ocean, and around Europe, visiting many of their friends from the 'hometaper scene', as Don liked to call it. A fact made all the more remarkable when you consider Kevyn was in a wheelchair, thus also making him Tilly The Space Cat's best friend, her being a notorious lap-cat and his being a permanent lap with a cat-friendly demeanour. This was before Music & Elsewhere, it was actually their visit that inspired me to start it the following April, though I was doing a zine called The Mmattrix. But let's start with Kevyn's own account of the visit, taken from his zine, Anemic Billfold, circa early 1992...
