The brief arrived from Shaun Robert; Theme - magnetic tape. Sigh. The humble audio cassette, it was a huge part of my life for many years, and for all its flaws and shortcomings, be it wow or flutter, I still miss it. A good majority of the old M&E masters have long since been digitised for one collection or another, the originals then sold off to collectors. Luckily though, I still have the odd 'demo of little or no interest' left from back in the day. I also still have, amongst my rack of tape decks, one of the type you can fast forward or rewind while the play head is raised. This is not a process recommended for tapes you care about, but it did mean we were able to do this! Okay, it's not all just straight from the recordings and unprocessed, but then Skit and I do love to toy with sounds mercilessly, it's our way. However, everything you hear on this track is created purely from the sounds of a cassette being rapidly rewound (hence 'nostalgia') over a play head. Wow!
