Magic Bullet & Friends –
ΚΟΛΛΑΒΟΡΑΤΙΣ
Magic Bullet & Friends’ album
ΚΟΛΛΑΒΟΡΑΤIΣ explores experimental music with elements of industrial,
ambient, noise, and more. This 10-track collaborative album showcases Mick
Magic’s innovative spirit, a veteran of the underground music industry who
has worked as a fanzine publisher, musician, and label owner. The album’s
title, an inventive play on the word “collaborators,” refers to the
project’s essence - a combination of varied thoughts and sounds across the
experimental music spectrum. ΚΟΛΛΑΒΟΡΑΤIΣ immediately puts listeners in a
diverse and unconventional sound universe. The recordings are more than
simply songs; they are aural experiences created with a DIY mentality that
represents the musician’s underground starting point. The album’s nostalgic
beauty is enhanced by the purposefully raw and unpolished production, which
recalls an age when experimental music was a protest against mainstream
traditions. The variety of the album reflects the collaborative nature of its
creation. Each tune has a distinct taste due to the diverse contributions of
Magic Bullet’s buddies. Some tracks have a strong industrial music
influence, with mechanical rhythms and warped sounds generating a harsh yet
seductive mood. Other tracks explore ambient soundscapes, with ethereal
melodies and droning synthesizers creating an alien atmosphere, as if the
music is being relayed from a parallel dimension. Despite its experimental
character, ΚΟΛΛΑΒΟΡΑΤIΣ keeps a consistent identity. The album seems like a
tour into the head of a musician who has spent decades pushing the limits of
what music can be. The album has a nostalgic air to it, not in the sense of
longing for the past, but rather of celebrating a period when musicians like
Mick Magic and his colleagues could freely explore the boundaries of sound
without limitation.
