UWU Newsletter New Year 2001 This is the New Year Newsletter referred to in the "Hello" section. It was actually the very first one to be produced on a computer. This new version of the website first appeared in the Summer of 2000, the original text under the 'Hello!' banner reading; "... if you've been here before you probably noticed I gave the site a summer makeover! Do you love it or hate it? Please let me know! I also updated the content; the bands list should now finally be complete, there are some new links and more... have fun!" |

f o r u m I'll start working through the various headings through the remainder of this article, but there's unfortunately nothing in the back-up on the end of the 'forum' hyperlink. However, going back to the Internet Archive version, a capture from May 2001 lead to quite a few remnants. It was called "The United World Underground Discussion Forum" and the first posting still there, complete with the creator's response, was from a rather familiar name;
Mick Magic Ignoring the odd chancer posting unsolicited adverts for their rip-off schemes and Maaike giving them what for, there was about a year's worth of stuff, a little window on the past, frozen there in time.

Tommy Lee Ah, we do miss the mighty Judge Trev, may he rest in psychedelic peace while angels ply him with Special Brew and Tennent's. And yes, that really was Tommy Lee of Motley Crue who posted that. And yes, I still have his e-mail address. And no, having seen the video, neither of us argued with him...
Zeitgeist You were very welcome, Stu, cheers for all the nice reviews. And that was it, the final surviving posting, the forum hadn't saved any at all on the later Internet Archive captures. Or, perish the thought, nobody ever posted another word on it! No, that's too horrendous to contemplate. Having said that, by this point, I had an e-mail address, the old magic@uwunderground.fsnet.co.uk one, so people could contact me directly to promote their projects, advise on my alcohol consumption or question my penile dimensions. And they did... |
