Bloom - The Dark Room
You'll undoubtedly know the name of Deborah
Fialkiewicz, she's been on the show a couple of times now, but this track
isn't one of her solo offerings, tis rather a collaborative side project
with Dan Dolby (very inappropriately named for this piece!) and John Koser.
A lovely doom laden work that hits like a wall of darkness that you can't
pull you ears away from. It's drawn from the mini album, "The Improvisation
Sessions (Vol. I)", where you can hear it in its fully 12 minute glory...

07. Howl in the Typewriter - Second Fix
pStan Batcow (it's a silent 'p', don't get
me started) may well have also kept hearing a little clip that goes...

dripping honey from a buzzy bee

... and guilty as charged, it is indeed nabbed
from an old song of his called "Family", taken from the delightfully named 1992
album, "Dog Turd In Shrewsbury".
The featured track, however, is from the
far more dignified "Cutting Wood When The Wood Is Blowing".
He's got so much
more cultured as the years have passed. Unfortunately, I haven't. Wood.

08. New Zero God - Tell The Bees
This month's "live in Nine Backward" act,
fronted by old friend Mike Pougounas, most famous for his days with Greek
goth legends The Flowers Of Romance, his Blackout Radio Show, and getting me
very drunk on ouzo on Shepherd's Bush Green in the mid 90's. Nowadays still
recording and performing with NZG, as well as hosting the show, this track
taken from their latest album, "Of Love And Death". Gothic soft jazz, got to
be a new sub genre, hasn't it? Nice...

09. 6 9 N & F - Space Bees Dub
Another of the tracks done specially for
our Space Bees Trilogy, this one coming from Carsten S himself at the
excellent Klappstuhl Records, one of those glorious old tape labels that
have survived and adapted to the digital era. First label to release a
collection of my own MMATT stuff in the digital age, in the shape of
"Flashbax Ω Ultimate", pretty damned good 'best of' set, even if I do say so
myself. And a heads up; it's Klappstuhl that will be releasing "The Bridge",
a special album to celebrate my 40 years in underground music this
year. I was thinking the cover design should be me waving my bus-pass, looking for my slippers
and smelling of wee...

Grosso Gadgetto - Brutal Attack
A bit of French musical adventurism here,
taken from his 2025 album, "It's Not Science Fiction", mastered by none
other than Julien Ash, who you'll know from the recent appearance of
Nouvelles Lectures Cosmopolites on our playlist. I like the versatility of
this project, this is quite different to the last of his tracks we had on
the show, and perfectly titled to accompany Milton Keynes' weapons barrage
on our courageous crew. Yes, absolutely, music to get shot by. And so much
more...

11. Charles Rice Goff III & General Ken Montgomery
Oh, be still my beating and nostalgic
heart... a cassette release in 2025, there IS a god! CRG3 (to his friends)
dedicated this cassingle (ask your dad) to the late and much lamented Lord
Litter, which automatically makes it a winner in my eyes. But when I
listened to the flipside, it sounded so much like bees being poisoned with
psychoactive chemicals (and I mean this in a good way!), it simply had to be
included in the show. CRG3 has been on several times before, he's another
one like Igor Amokian, just makes so many quirky sounds that fit the RTTS
concept like a glove. Gen Ken, bizarrely, and in spite of him being such a
hugely well known figure through the cassette culture years and beyond, I
have never crossed paths with, so can't really tell you much of anything.
Huge respect for his work though. I must be hallucinating. I mean, does it
get any better than this...

12. Magic Moments At Twilight Time - Bumble Bees On Acid
Yes, it was indeed on the show last October
when I was doing a call out for material for The Space Bees Trilogy, but how could I
NOT use it here? It was made for it. Right, make sure you're sat down for
this bit; it's originally from the 1988 mini album "The Time Machine", in
which Shona Moments, Kate Twilight and Jay Time went back to 1986 in the
Ford Escortron (come on, you know I'm not making it up, you've seen
pictures) to help me make the "W20 Advance Guard" debut demo I did on my own
better. I'm sure loads of bands do this with their first demo, they're
rarely as good as you'd like. Anyway, the whole of the second take version
is now available as part of "Flashbax Vol. 7", available on the Alternate
Media label. Simples...
