Music & Elsewhere The song is "La Lune", the voice belongs to
Isabelle Gernand...
Music
& Elsewhere Oh, so busy looking at her photo, I forgot the track link,
sigh...
Music & Elsewhere Her face actually inspired the one in the
desolate sky on the original "Creavolution" cover (see the graphic at the
very top of this post, that's her, as portrayed by the excellent Thayen
Rich).
Music & Elsewhere These days, she and other half Marc Werner
perform with a band called Nude. You'll find plenty of stuff online, just
pop "Isabelle Gernand Nude" into Google search... ;)
Music & Elsewhere Great track, very sudden ending! Shall we slow
things down a bit now? Then let's pop back to the Stone Premonitions
stable (hi, Tim, hope you can afford a house one day)...
Music
& Elsewhere The track I've chosen is "Lying Awake At
Night", enjoy muchly...
Music & Elsewhere The voice belongs to Finn Millar, kind of a
Noosha Fox vibe to it, I always felt, lends a very unique sound to their
music. Finn sent me something of a collage of pictures, here they are...
Music & Elsewhere Unluckily, they came to M&E right at the end,
their sole release on the label coming in May 2003, our last batch. They
got joint Release Of The Season with Glass (who were on The UWU
Collection), think they would have gone on to be very popular with the M&E
faithful otherwise.
Music & Elsewhere Just a couple more tracks to go, and I do tend to
save the best till last, though I've loved every track I've 'played' this
evening already! Next up is a band that were around on M&E from the early
days and became one of our biggest sellers...
Music & Elsewhere Let's have a right old psyche-out then,
complete
with Rustic Rod Goodway on lead guitar! This is "Nightmares In The Sky"...
Music & Elsewhere Okay, not the most obvious choice of band for a
female-glorifying session, being the brainchild of a male (the mighty
Steve Lines), but as with Sabotage, the band has always been clearly
identified with a female lead vocalist. The tracks on the collection are
sung by Louise Allen, but I've picked this later one with Melanie Townsend
on vocals, coz she's really good too. This is Steve and Melanie, circa mid
90s, I think...

Music & Elsewhere So here we are at the end of another
presentation, but this time jumping straight into the next, an American
Underground special. So this is a perfect segue, her living in Santa Rosa
with subterranean legend husband, Don Campau. Last track up, and possibly
the greatest female singer I've ever had the pleasure to hear in all my
underground years, this is The Voice...
Music & Elsewhere The track I've chosen for the link to the
American
session is called "Ulban"...
Music & Elsewhere This is the lady herself, with husband, Don
Campau, and they guy who wanted to marry her but lost out to Don, Kevyn
Dymond. Always the bridesmaid... ;)
Music & Elsewhere And this is me serenading Robin at a vicarage tea
party in Surrey in 1996... hey, I don't make this stuff up you know!
Music & Elsewhere Lower your head, you are in the presence of
wonderment. Thought I'd let her show off a bit by choosing this one. Robin
calls this 'vocalised', rather than sung. I'll leave you to enjoy it and
get set up ready for my next session, hope you'll follow. If not,
goodnight and thanks for listening. If you're coming, next post up... :)
Stupidly long FB link here... (Editor's Note: Well, there was, you don't
particularly need it for this website version, do ya?)
Next up, the Music & Elsewhere Collection
presents an American underground special. Be starting in around 10
minutes, soon as I've finished with the "Cherchez La Femme" presentation
(previous session above). Soon!
Music & Elsewhere GREETINGS, AMERICA!
Be with you in a couple of minutes, still listening to Robin O'Brien from
the last presentation, WAY too good to stop the track early. Be patient,
make a tea or something... ;)

And then, but a few minutes later...

Music & Elsewhere Only one place to start, I think, that amazing
Cincinnati Massive that is...
Music & Elsewhere So let's get the
music going, coz that's what
we're
here for, and the track I've picked for this afternoon from their almost
infinite back catalogue is "Knights In Black Steel"... |
