61. “Unitas
XXIX”
“Would it be
terribly posturing-fucking-pretentious-artist of me to ask for the silent p
before the capital S in pStan to be added (even though you knew me back when
I was plain Stan)? And to point out that the 'i' and 't' for 'in the' in the
middle of 'Howl in the Typewriter' should be lower case? Fuck me, these
bloody people! He'll be asking for a bowl of Smarties with all the green
ones removed, next . . ." (pStan Batcow, 2nd August 2021)
pStan Batcow (it’s a silent ‘p’,
apparently)... Pumf Records (you pronounce that one though)... Howl in the
Typewriter (upper case H and T, lower case for ‘in’ and ‘the’)... gronk...
pSTAN BATCOW (Pumf Records)
I’ve known pStan since
he was ‘young master Batpupcalf’, once separated by some 250
miles, but nowadays we’re virtually neighbours, as he lives in Blackpool.
Which, as Keith Woodhouse so correctly pointed out, is on the Fylde Coast
where we live. You may well recognise the name from our “Curiositas” album,
he was responsible for “Jesus Has Risen (Let’s Mow The Lawn)!” He’s still in
hiding from the provisional wing of the Sacred Heart Church Choir because of
it. A rather unique individualist, pStan first released a MMATT tape on Pumf
in 1992, it was called “Designer Brain Damage”. He wouldn’t just accept one
of the ‘Flashbax’ series we produced especially for other labels, oh no, we
had to do a bespoke job for HIM with HIS choice of tracks. But I digress,
which is most unlike me. I thought I was over that now, it’s been nearly 30
years, but clearly I have more work to do with my therapist. To the present
day, and Stan still runs Pumf, but it’s all CD’s now, no beautiful cassettes
any more, and does the Godspunk compilation series, co-operatively financed
by the participating artists. Well, we thought that was a great idea and
worthy of support, so we put our money where our mouths were. And we began
our revenge too; overran by 2 seconds and didn’t pay any extra, hah!

That’s all
he’s written, honest. Unique individualist, told you so.

Gerardo

“El Poema
Político”... me gustan los gatos...
GERARDO COLIN
(OTCRAH Records)
From one of
our oldest friends to our newest, based in Nuevo León, México. We’ve only
been in touch since the summer, though now I think about it in those terms,
it feels forever away. Hey, at least it’s stopped raining. For now.
Extremely diverse output, and it must be the most ‘international’ label I’ve
seen to date, if the variety of nationalities I’ve observed on the
compilations are anything to go by. In a club with Stan as the only two
underground muzos in the world that aren’t on Bandcamp, but not nearly so
finicky about how his name is written, so he’s a winner by us.
64. “El
Poema Político” - Gerardo Colin

experimental es muy divertido he de aqui el titulo. Gerardo debuto como
noiser y musico experimental en 2017 luego de decidir entre seguir este

mi respuesta
/ opinión sobre la compilación...
Magic Bullet
& Firends es una compilación de lo mejor, reune a muchos artistas de los
ochenta que son mis influencias asi como artistas de nueva generación.
Es una
compilación donde se convive en armonía y amistad intercambiando ruidos de
diferentes paises del mundo.

“Unitas XXXI”
It’s Kev
Trundley... the Trundley Experience... you know when you’ve been Trundled...
Conny Plankton... Conny Plankton... Conny Plankton... “Asparagi”... warning;
listening to this track may make your wee smell...
KEV TRUNDLEY
(Album artwork)
Kev is
another of my very oldest friends in the music world, I remember
distributing some of his Trundley Experience compilations in the very first
batch of M&E releases in April 1992. I remember meeting up with him in The
White Hart pub in Frimley, back when he still had hair and didn’t smell of
wee. I remember the cover art he did for Wat Tyler’s “I’m Forever Blowing
Bubbles”, which I shan’t describe here for reasons that would be obvious if
you saw it, but if I just suggested you think Michael Jackson behaving
inappropriately with a certain chimpanzee, you’d probably get the right
idea. Nevertheless, I asked him to do all the artwork for this album, and
what a fantastic job he’s done. He’s worked very hard to keep his alter ego
of Conny Plankton a secret over the years, so just between us, okay? Thanks.

“Asparagi” - Conny Plankton
Conny Plankton has been working under a range
of different identities in Music and Video since the early 90s. Conny
Plankton will bring you a confusion of electronics, noise, loops, discord
and harmony - often in the same track! Conny Plankton is a prolific artist,
often putting out over 100 tracks and mixes a year, as well as remix
projects, collaborations, submissions to compilations, video mixes and
graphics. Links to the world of Conny Plankton can be found at:

The track,
Asparagi, is based on used modulated samples from sessions with my Eurorack
set up, together with choice selected snippets from Magic Bullet (We Are
Stayin’ Up!) and Magic Moments at Twilight Time (Little Green Men In Bowler
Hats, Shades Of Purple), all used with permission from Space Captain Mick
Magic himself. Also woven into the mix, is a heavily distorted vocal piece
from the golden larynx of Conny Plankton himself. Enjoy folks! |
